Sciatica can be a pain in the butt for many individuals. However, there are many times that sciatic nerve pain or sciatica does not originate from the most common thought of location - the disc. In this video, join Dr. Keith Sparks as he shows us three areas between the pelvis and the hip that can commonly cause myofascial trigger points to produce sciatic-type pain.
The three areas that can commonly produce sciatic-type pains between the pelvis and the hip are located to the outside of the SI joint, to the upper part of the gluteus maximus fibers inserting onto the ilium, and finally, the tensor fascia latae or the TFL muscle.
These three areas negatively impact the free motion of the hip, producing sciatic-type pain. Using a lacrosse ball or foam roller to address these myofascial trigger points can not only help improve your sciatic-type symptoms but can also help to improve your motion within your hip.
