Lake Superior is a beautiful winter wonderland! These ice caves naturally form each year due to the perfect mix of high winds blowing water up on shore, and it freezes before the waves fall back into the lake. It’s an absolute pleasure to see them on foot, but (in my opinion) even cooler to fly drones around them and through caves/arches that form.
It’s such a cool phenomena, they form in a few locations but all this footage was just South of Pancake Bay (no drones were flown near the provincial park), about 1 hour’s drive North from Sault Ste Marie. If you want to see them yourself, please be very careful.
