An examination of the IR spectra of the acid chloride, acid anhydride, ester, and amide derivatives of butanoic acid points out an interesting trend for the observed frequency of the C=O stretch. The observed frequency of the C-O stretch in an acid anhydride is compared to that of an ester. These trends are related to the structures of these compounds, and are explained in greater detail in the two subsequent videos.
The IR spectrum of butanenitrile is also discussed.
