The BJP is entering the Kerala Assembly election battle with renewed confidence, hoping to break the long-standing dominance of the LDF and UDF in the state’s bipolar political landscape.
The party’s recent performance in civic body elections, including a historic victory in the Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation, has energised its cadre and strengthened its belief that Kerala could open up politically for the BJP.
The party is also banking heavily on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who remains the BJP’s central campaign face in the state.
However, the BJP faces the challenge of overcoming decades of electoral setbacks and breaking the entrenched LDF–UDF cycle of power. Expanding the NDA alliance, attracting youth and community support, and highlighting the central government’s development and welfare initiatives are expected to be key elements of the party’s strategy.
