Playthrough of Penny's Challenge - Think Tank
Level starts at 0:05
Note: I avoid using Plant Food and try to use unique strategies.
Me and this level have some history. When this one first came out, I was reduced to using Winter Melon to No PF this after many attempts; shameful display, I know. It was the holidays of 2025, didn't have much time to spend on it, and was going through so much you have no idea. I was also asked by what you could call my higher self, and Source, to just "let go", so I did and used WM. Oh, and I was also pretty out of it for many reasons, least of which having to deal with jerks of let's say a lizard-like persuasion, and I'm not talking about the dinos of Jurassic Marsh, or maybe I am, who knows.
As an aside, while making these Penny's Challenge videos, I discovered that the PvZ2 stegosaurus character sometimes mumbles "KILL YOU" while its at the pre-battle zombie line-up screen. I wish I was joking lol. Noticed it while editing my One Plank Wonder video on the Penny's Challenge playlist, seen here:

Go to 0:18 of the above video. You'll hear the guy mumble "KILL YOU", made me flinch when I first heard it. It's not an edit of mine btw, apparently it's an actual sound effect in the game, seen here:
• Dinosaur Sounds from Plants vs. Zombies 2
Go to 1:22 of that video. Been playing PvZ2 in some form since 2012 and never noticed that. Dinosaurs ("terrible lizards") with evil subliminal messages in an all-ages game, this could only be EA.
Anyway, the level. It's kinda one of those PC levels. A metric ton of tanky enemies, but here they'll use those red tank boost tiles to be even more tanky. If you really like fighting lots of bullet sponges, this is your level. This level also has a smattering of those "gotcha gravestones" bits in where gravestones pop up at certain moments, knocking plants around. There's a particularly annoying one popping up at the bottom tile of C2. And overall the level has a vibe in where you have to play with a specific strategy in mind, or struggle, or cheese with WM.
Speaking of struggle, why did I struggle I have no idea, ask my higher self lol. And my love of Acid Lemon. Really wanted to win with him here as he's my boi and main character but alas. There's a lot of RNG to him unless you go overboard with three columns, Jurassic guys barely feel his acid and can't be knocked back, Overstuffed Zombie with his fat butt can't even be hurt by him I believe, and of course those ultra-mcdultra tanky Gargs don't care.
But the level really wants you to use knockback to keep bumping the swarm of supertanks back or they will just grind their way to victory. So instead of Lemon, we just use Inferno, eventually three columns of him to whoosh them all back. Backing him up is another strong attacker, in my case Pokra as she can speed things up, stall zombies, and kill off armored basics and Pharaohs quickly. Then you use a preferred instant, in my case Puffball. A vine plant is also needed as there are Cannonball Imps raining down and, get this, they are extremely tanky. That seems to be what the level wants you to do: yeet tanks, have good attacker, use vine, refresh with instants.
Some tips for the strat:
-Potato Mine is good here, Inferno keeps yeeting allowing you to sneak him front of Mechanics and gargs, and great against Jurrassic guys. You can also use him to blow up graves for early sun if you're lucky like I was (though not needed for sure).
-Inferno screws over some enemy abilities like Newspaper's speed boost and screws with them in general; look at that Knight in the bottom right corner at 3:17. Inferno fried his brain or something.
-Pharaoh needs two Potatoes to die, despite the fact that it's armor piercing, so normally you want to kill that first Pharaoh with a Pokra/Pumpkin. If you're getting scrooed over by Sun-shrooms, try teleporting him to a sun grave in the back with Teleportato Mine to buy time to get a Pokra going
-Teleportato is too good here, as she can send back Jurassic guys. Try to save it for them.
-You can sneak Sun-shrooms in front of Pokras due to those yeeting Infernos; do it for extra sun, otherwise you'll rely on Gold Bloom for this one
-Pumpkin has a bad recharge to try to plant him whenever he's ready
-White clamshell guy is a menace, stall him with Sun-shroom spam if you have to
-Puffball is great at getting rid of Mechanics, garg spam and problem waves. Save one for that huge wave of Rockpunchers and of course the final wave. Just be aware that Teddy Bear Gargs are immune to poison.
This was a great run until the end mostly because of fumble fingers, normally the Mecha-Footballs don't get a shove in and the C5 Pokras usually survive. But I guess I like posting imperfect runs to show that the strat doesn't require perfection.
Still laughing about dinosaurs whispering "KILL YOU". Remind me who went extinct again. ☀️
