To achieve the best results from my training, I dug deep into literature and listened to some expert of the field.
I extracted 5 basic principles to set up a plan for me that would get me from no running at all to a marathon in 28 weeks. These principles are:
1. Training cycles (What to train in a week, a month, and a year)
2. Training load (How much to train and to increase over time)
3. Types of training (How to train: intervals, long runs, recovery, barefoot)
4. Crosstraining (Impact reduction and new stimuli for the body)
5. Additional training (How to keep the body fresh and injury free with strength, stability, and yoga sessions)
