DIY biopellet reactor : how to lower nitrates in saltwater tank

Описание: I made a bio pellet reactor diy for saltwater aquarium nitrate removal. anaerobic bacteria breaks down nitrates as they are removed via protein skimmer or water changes. nitrates are the last stage of the nitrogen cycle and must be removed from your saltwater aquarium for the benefit of your coral and fish. uneaten food in the aquarium and fish waste break down to ammonia, which turns to nitrites, which turn into nitrates. Nitrates are removed via water changes or your protein skimmer. If you have a larger bio load (more fish), you will have higher levels of nitrates. You may need to implement carbon dosing to feed anaerobic bacteria to remove nitrates faster. This can be in the form of sugar dosing, which is adding table sugar to your aquarium daily. No more than 1 teaspoon per 60 gallons. You can also use vodka or a bio pellet reactor. Bio pellets in a reactor feed the anaerobic bacteria, which break down the nitrates and are removed via a protein skimmer. You need a protein skimmer if you are carbon dosing.

Human activities such as fossil fuel combustion, use of artificial nitrogen fertilizers, and release of nitrogen in wastewater have dramatically altered the global nitrogen cycle.
