In the hearing of the SIR case, Election Commission lawyer Rakesh Dwivedi said that the appointment of micro-observers is according to the rules, while Mamata Banerjee described it as having no legal basis. Dwivedi said that such measures have to be taken when the state does not cooperate, and so far, hearings for ten million people have been conducted, and the rest will also be heard. The CJI said that capable lawyers like Shyam Diwan are present on Mamata's side and they can present their case. The court asked the Election Commission to respond to the petition and scheduled the next hearing for Monday.

SIR मामले की सुनवाई में चुनाव आयोग के वकील राकेश द्विवेदी ने कहा कि माइक्रो ऑब्जर्वरों की नियुक्ति नियमों के अनुसार है, जबकि ममता बनर्जी ने इसे बिना कानूनी आधार का बताया. द्विवेदी ने कहा कि जब राज्य सहयोग नहीं करता तो ऐसे कदम उठाने पड़ते हैं और अब तक एक करोड़ लोगों की सुनवाई हो चुकी है, बाकी की भी होगी. CJI ने कहा कि ममता की ओर से श्याम दीवान जैसे सक्षम वकील मौजूद हैं और वे पक्ष रख सकते हैं. कोर्ट ने चुनाव आयोग को याचिका पर जवाब देने को कहते हुए अगली सुनवाई सोमवार तय की.
