Hello everyone. In our final chapter of this exploration we wrap up with the CNJ crossing of both the Lehigh Valley and Ironton railroads.
Originally built by the Lehigh Coal and Navigation Company and called the Lehigh and Susquehanna Railroad. This road running along the eastern shore of the Lehigh river through Northampton County would be leased to the Central Railroad of New Jersey in 1871. In 1884 the CNJ would build a branch across the Lehigh to the western shore of the river. There it interchanged with the Ironton railroad.
