CDT Thru Hike Ep 24: Old Faithful to Macks Inn - "Yellowstone II: Geysers & Goodbyes"

Описание: Yellowstone II: Geysers & Goodbyes - In this episode of my Continental Divide Trail Thru Hike Documentary, Hopeful, Katie and I leave Old Faithful together, but go our separate ways after entering Idaho. It's a 43 mile hike over 1.5 days for me to Mack's Inn.

The trail starts off in the heart of the touristy area of Old Faithful. It's a leisurely stroll along a wooden boardwalk through fields of geothermal features in Upper Geyser Basin along Firehole River... geysers, pools and all sorts of natural oddities. Certainly some of the most unique and bizarre sights of the CDT. After leaving Biscuit Basin, the tourists disappear and it's back into the wilderness once again. After passing Summit Lake and exploring the Summit Lakes Hot Springs (not for soaking!), we entered Idaho. The next morning, we parted ways at the junction for the Macks Inn alternate, and just an hour later I saw my first black bear since the Gila. This was a short section, but a critical transition point as I enter a new phase of my CDT hike.
