Funeral for victims of Karachi building collapse

Описание: (6 Mar 2020) A funeral procession was held on Friday for the victims of a building collapse in Karachi.
The multi-storey building collapsed on Thursday, killing 15 people, including women and children, Senior Police Superintendent Police Arif Rao said.
Police said the owner of the building in the densely populated Golimar neighbourhood was having a fifth floor added at the time.
The building also fell on two nearby homes, causing casualties, police said.
Farooq Sattar, the local leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was quick to apportion blame.
"...in the last 30 years the illegal constructions are being carried out under the nose of corrupt government officials and the corrupt leadership of political parties."
The narrowness of the nearby street was preventing rescuers from bringing in heavy equipment, police said.
Building collapses are common in Pakistan, as many are poorly constructed using cheap building materials, and safety guidelines are sometimes ignored to cut costs.
