Tower Rangers - First Ascent

Описание: This route was first bolted back in 2022 by a friend Paul while recovering from a finger injury. It has remained an open project but faces south so it bakes in the sun all day. That’s probably why it hasn’t seen much action since then.

With Paul’s blessing, I started brushing the holds and trying the moves in November of ‘25 when it was absolutely roasting hot. I was certain that my plan to suffer through the heat and dial everything in would pay off when it finally cooled off. November turned into December and I was certain the cool temps were about here. December came and went and now into January. Still searing hot. February now. Surely this is when things cool off. Weeks in and still mid 80s. Then 90s. By this point I had worked this route plenty… more than any project prior. I was just waiting on the weather and it wasn’t coming.

Finally, it was February 21 of ‘26 and it all came together. I was feeling strong. Beta was absolutely dialed. The sky was wide open and full sun was something I was used to. Only difference was the cold wind. This was one of the vanishingly rare days where it felt great to be in the sun. The wind was persistent and quite cold. So much so that I was literally shivering at the start of the route. No, the beanie wasn’t just for fashion points :-) The crux is a long sequence of power-endurance moves with pretty marginal feet. I opted to skip a draw and clip a single carabiner on a higher optional bolt.

Tower Rangers is obviously a play on power rangers but the inspiration came from a friend Josh suggesting we “deputize” some of the regulars to keep the riffraff under control. If you know, you know. Sorry, gonna have to be an inside joke.

I’m so happy to have done this climb at my age… 44 and counting. Seems like I’m getting stronger so I’ll see how long I can keep this up.
