In this video, I replace the driver side axle on my 2009 Mazdaspeed 3 — and let me tell you, it was a fight. What should’ve been a straightforward job turned into a real struggle when the axle refused to come out. After trying the usual methods with no luck, I had to get creative and break out the slide hammer with a vice grip attachment. That finally did the trick and freed the stubborn axle.

If you’re working on a Mazdaspeed 3 (or even a regular Mazda3) and run into a stuck axle, this video might help you figure out another way to get it done.

🔧 Tools used:

Impact

18mm wrench

15, 17, 19, and 32mm sockets

Flat head screwdriver

Slide hammer

Vice grip attachment
