Join us for a peaceful walk through Dawyck Botanic Garden, one of Scotland’s most spectacular woodland gardens and a true paradise for tree lovers 🌳
Located near Peebles in the Scottish Borders, Dawyck is part of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh and is best known for its world-class arboretum. Some of the trees here were planted over 400 years ago, making this one of Scotland’s richest living collections of trees from around the world.
We visited Dawyck in September, and although there were very few flowering plants at this time of year, the garden was full of colour and interest — from vibrant autumn leaves to beautifully textured bark, ripening seeds and berries that add depth and detail to the landscape.
In this video, we explore Dawyck’s beautiful tree trails, from towering Douglas firs to delicate Japanese maples, and share why this garden is so special for anyone interested in trees, woodland gardens and natural landscapes. Dawyck is a biodiversity hotspot, supporting over 100 species of lichen, a sign of its clean air and healthy environment.
You’ll also see historic features like Dawyck Chapel and Dawyck House.
Whether you’re planning a visit, looking for garden inspiration or simply enjoy slow, nature-focused videos, this is a place that encourages you to pause, look up and appreciate the importance of trees in our landscapes.
