Guia is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Albufeira, with an area of 26.80 km² and 4758 inhabitants (2021 census). Its population density is 177.5 inhabitants/km².

History
Oral tradition suggests that the name originated from the construction of the hermitage to Nossa Senhora da Guia, where the Virgin is said to have appeared to the people. Ecclesiastical records from the Bishop of the Algarve indicate that, owing to the sanctuary, the parish was created in 1617.

Geography
This old settlement is situated on the flank of a small hill, the Cerro de São Sebastião, with expansion occurring in the second quarter of the 20th century. Among the more important localities of the parish are the settlements of Vale Parra, Vale Rabelho, Montes Juntos, Vale Verde, Cortelhas, Vale da Ursa, Tavagueira and Álamos. 4.6 kilometres to the north of the town of Guia by road is the town of Algoz, in the neighboring municipality of Silves. The coast is 5 kilometers away and the nearest beaches are Lourenço and Galé.

Economy
The population of the civil parish has maintained an agricultural tradition, based on a rural society, producing fig, carob, almond, vineyards, wheat, barley and rye, in addition to a wide assortment of fresh vegetables. Guia is also home to Algarve Shopping, a large shopping centre with a hypermarket (Continente), shops of a variety of nationally and internationally renowned brands, restaurants and a 9-screen cinema. The civil parish of Guia is home to Zoomarine a theme park with the primary aim; of educating about the seas and the wildlife within them.

Military
Old Tower (Torre Velha), following the June 1548 attack by Muslim forces along the coast of Albufeira, which resulted in the enslavement of six rural peasants, the need to defend the Algarve coast resulted in the construction of temporary sentries. In the second half of the 16th century, during the reign of King John III, the tower was constructed to monitor coastal defenses. Today, the tower is integrated into a tourist lodging, called Torre Velha;
Religious
Church of São Sebastião (Igreja de São Sebastião), a single-nave church and sacristy constructed from a 17th-century chapel, in which were recently (2011) discovered mural paintings from the period;
Church of Nossa Senhora da Visitação (Igreja Paroquial da Guia/Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Visitação), the parochial church of Guia, consisting of a longitudinally-planned rectangular nave, chancel, sacristy and lateral chapels encircled by azulejos along its floor-level walls;
Hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Guia (Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Guia), constructed in the 15th century, the simple hermitage is covered in floor-level azulejo, and was almost destroyed by the 1755 Lisbon earthquake

Geografia
Este antigo povoado situa-se na encosta de uma pequena colina, o Cerro de São Sebastião, tendo ocorrido uma expansão no segundo quartel do século XX. Entre as localidades mais importantes da freguesia encontram-se as povoações de Vale Parra, Vale Rabelho, Montes Juntos, Vale Verde, Cortelhas, Vale da Ursa, Tavagueira e Álamos.

Economia
A população da freguesia mantém uma tradição agrícola, baseada numa sociedade rural, produzindo figo, alfarroba, amêndoa, trigo, cevada e centeio, para além de uma vasta gama de legumes frescos. A Guia alberga ainda o Algarve Shopping, um grande centro comercial com um hipermercado (Continente), lojas de diversas marcas nacionais e internacionais, restaurantes e um cinema com 9 salas. A freguesia da Guia alberga ainda o Zoomarine, um parque temático cujo principal objetivo é educar sobre os mares e a vida marinha.

Arquitetura
Militar
Torre Velha: após o ataque de Junho de 1548 das forças muçulmanas ao longo da costa de Albufeira, que resultou na escravização de seis camponeses, a necessidade de defender a costa algarvia levou à construção de sentinelas provisórias. Na segunda metade do século XVI, durante o reinado de D. João III, a torre foi construída para vigiar as defesas costeiras. Hoje, a torre está integrada num alojamento turístico denominado Torre Velha;

Religioso
Igreja de São Sebastião, igreja de uma só nave e sacristia construída a partir de uma capela seiscentista.
Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Visitação (Igreja Paroquial da Guia/Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Visitação), igreja paroquial da Guia, constituída por nave rectangular de planta longitudinal, capela-mor, sacristia e capelas laterais circundadas por azulejos ao longo das paredes ao nível do chão;
Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Guia (Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Guia), construída no século XV, a simples ermida é revestida a azulejos ao nível do chão e quase destruída pelo terramoto de Lisboa de 1755
