Final Round 1: Double Cut (2 Mats)
The competitor will be required to perform a double cut trough two single mats that are spiked on either end of a triple mat stand. The competitor will complete an ascending cut (true edge or false edge, competitor’s choice) through both mats followed immediately by a second cut that cuts the severed pieces (not the pieces spiked to the stand).
Final Round 2: Constrained Cuts
The competitor will be required to perform decending cuts from alternating sides on a single mat. The cut must start and end between the wooden dowels placed to either side of the mat. To receive full points for a cut, the blade must stop before striking the second dowel.
Final Round 3: Cut to Thrust
There will be two stands for this feat. On the first stand, the competitors will be required to complete a cut (ascending or descending, true edge or false edge, competitor’s choice) followed immediately by a thrust that enters the severed piece (not the piece spiked to the stand). The competitor will then proceed to the second stand and perform a second cut to thrust.
