This video shows you how to solve for the magnetic force on an electric charge that is moving in a magnetic field using the magnitude and direction. This is the same problem as in last week's video,

so you can easily compare the two approaches.
In this problem, last week's approach using unit vectors is easier. The approach in this video, by finding the magnitude and direction separately, will be faster for other problems where you're given magnitudes and directions.
Another "advantage" of this approach is that you need to understand the 3D relationships, and the Right Hand Rule (RHR), in order to get the right answer. The reason I say it's an advantage is because getting this right will help you understand all of the introductory physics material on how electric charges behave in magnetic fields.
