Highlighting Pakistan’s journey toward modernization, the Prime Minister recalled landmark initiatives launched during earlier governments, including laptop schemes for high achievers, e-libraries, e-stamping, land record digitization in partnership with the World Bank, the establishment of Pakistan’s first Safe City project, and the country’s first dedicated IT university. These reforms laid the foundation for today’s digital transformation.

At AI Indus Week, the Prime Minister announced that Pakistan will invest $1 billion in Artificial Intelligence by 2030, a decisive step to build a strong, inclusive, and globally competitive AI ecosystem. He further revealed that an AI curriculum will be introduced in all federal schools, as well as schools in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and remote areas of Balochistan, ensuring equal access to future-ready education.

To strengthen research and innovation, the government will provide 1,000 fully funded PhD scholarships in Artificial Intelligence by 2030, creating world-class research capacity within the country. Additionally, a nationwide AI upskilling program will train 1 million non-IT professionals, enabling productivity enhancement and improved livelihoods across sectors.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing AI through international cooperation, innovation, and inclusive economic participation, stating that Pakistan is now fully prepared to join the global AI revolution with confidence, capability, and purpose.
