In a 2016 study, they measured the glycemic response to a meal when you add between 8 and 60 grams of molasses or an equivalent amount of syrup. The molasses decreased the insulin response to the meal by up to 50% compared, in a linear fashion, so the more molasses, the bigger the effect, and the biggest effect was in study participants with increased insulin resistance to start with.
