The DLR project #DiCADeMa explored fully digital processes for designing, manufacturing, and assembling aircraft cabin components to enable faster, more flexible production. Using a real-life example, the team demonstrated an end-to-end digital workflow—from configuring cabin elements to automated robotic marking of installation points on full-scale cabin structures. The process was developed by the DLR Institute of System Architectures in Aeronautics (LINK Website) in Hamburg, with the DLR Institute of Structures and Design in Augsburg handling hardware development and shopfloor integration. This innovation not only supports last-minute customization but also improves production speed, quality, logistics, and resource management for the aviation industry. The next phase, starting in 2026, will scale these methods to entire factory and supply chain levels under the follow-up project #DiCADeMORe.
