This is Nintendo's first ever American animated film, as well as the first Evil Peach film and one of only two such films that are not Revenge of Evil Peach-related (the other being The Return of Evil Peach (1995)), due to The Revenge of Evil Peach (2000) being a sequel to The Return of Evil Peach. This is also the only Nintendo film to use the 1981 TCF logo.
