This is the first Mario Kart film and the 12th Nintendo Animation film overall after "Pikmin" (2006) and was followed by "Animal Crossing" (2008). By this point, prior to the release of Nintendo's own "Animal Crossing", this is the second Nintendo Animation film to use CGI.
