By drawing from his own journey, including his time in traditional business, venture capital, and crises including the Dotcom Bubble, Mr. William Chu shares his insights on the true role of Venture Capital in supporting entrepreneurship. He emphasizes the difficulty of chasing one’s dream, the importance of an informed and well-tempered mind, and the lifelong mission of a supporting community to nurture the ideas of their “dreamers”. Mr. Chu is a Partner at SparkLabs Group, a network of
accelerators and early stage funds across the globe. The group has invested in over 400 companies since its inception. Its portfolio includes OpenAI, Epic Games and many other promising tech companies from around the world. Mr. Chu leads the SparkLabs AIM AI Fund in Saudi Arabia, targeting AI companies from around the world and helping them scale in the MENA/KSA region. The fund is a partnership with the National Technology Development Program (NTDP), part of the MCIT (Ministry of Communications, Information and Technology). He also led the group into a partnership with Chinese insurer Ping An Group, and launched the Ping An Cloud Accelerator powered by SparkLabs, targeting fintech, health tech, and smart cities startups seeking growth in China. Mr. Chu received a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Harvard University. He is also an alumnus of Diocesan Boys’ School.
