Описание: Welcome to Talking Smart: Conversations with Educators and Philosophers from Around the World. I am your host, Richard (Mort) Morehouse. Today’s guest is Professor Laurance Splitter.
Laurance was a Professor of International Education and Lifelong Learning at the Hong Kong University of Education. Professor Splitter has taught at Universities in Japan, Australia, England, and the USA.
He received a BA with First Class Honors in Philosophy and Pure Mathematics from Monash University in1972. He got a Rhodes Scholarship, where he studied and completed his B. Phil from Oxford University in Philosophy in 1975. In 1982, Laurance received a D. Phil. In Philosophy, also from Oxford University.
Professor Splitter as published three major books, one of which has been translated into both Spanish and Portuguese. He has published over 80 articles in juried journals and has given about as many presentations at international conferences. He has had many professional reviewer assignments.
After tutoring or teaching at Monash University, St. Edwards School (Oxford), University of Oxford, and Monash University, Dr. Splitter was appointed as Philosopher in Residence at Sydney High School, the Emmanuel School, and Hills Grammar School. He was a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer at the University of Wollongong. Dr. Splitter was a Honorary Associate in philosophy at the University of Melbourne and Monash University. Lawrence then joined the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER). Laurance joined ACER as its inaugural director of the Australian Center for Philosophy for Children and Adolescents. From 1988-2001.
In summary, Professor Splitter has taught and done research in Philosophy, the History of Philosophy, Philosophy for Children, and Lifelong Learning around the Globe.
