Amid all the December craziness, the releases continue!! Everyone, I have been incredibly exited about this track for a long time. Ochette the Hunter was one of my very favorite tracks in Octopath Traveler 2. When I first saw trailers for the game, I thought that I would find her annoying, but instead I really enjoyed her energy and determination. Not to mention, she's actually hilarious!
Her theme, I was surprised that it didn't lean into the comedy of her character. Instead, Ochette the Hunter has an incredible sense of anticipation and adventure. It has some strong Chrono Trigger vibes too, Corridors of Time in particular. I knew covering it was going to present some challenges, but I am absolutely thrilled with how it came out.
We were incredibly lucky to have my friend, Nick Spezia, mixing and mastering this track. When I sent it to him, I told him that the middle section was my take on Yasunori Nishiki meets Van Halen. In particular, I had Right Now in my head as I wrote that part, thinking of it very much as an epic guitar solo. Nick took that idea and ran with it, his mixing magic was incredibly helpful to realizing this vision and I can't thank him enough!
AND @purpleschala going hard with the cosplay!!!! Her work turned this video into something TRULY SPECIAL!! I'm so happy too that the weather over Thanksgiving break cooperated and I was able to get outside with my cat ears! It was just nice enough to be comfortable playing outside, but not nice to the point where the park would have been absolutely mobbed with people.
