Hi friends!

In this video I do some spontaneous sketching of a scene from Bruge, Belgium.

I visited Bruges a couple of weeks ago, and was really inspired. This sketch is the result of that inspiration (:

Spontaneous sketching is an approach I like to take when doing urban sketching / outdoor sketching. I choose an interesting spot, and simply start building the sketch from there.

I don't use any guidelines, and so you really need to be aware of the composition as a whole, while doing that. I find this produces beautiful results for me, and I recommend you try it too.

This was a long sketch, and I go into details with the instructions, so I had to split it into two videos.

On the 16/02 I'll publish the real-time, narrated, sketching part of this. Then, around the 19/02 I'll publish the second part, of me shading this.
