[0:00] Introduction
[0:26] The three resist techniques
[2:25] Twisting the yarn
[3:52] Presoaking the twisted yarn
in plain tap water with no acid. Not for a specific amount of time, just getting it wet before going in the
[4:49] The dyebath
24 cups of water + 6 T white vinegar in the 4" deep full size catering steam pan
[5:36] Twisted Resist
3 T (45 mL) of 1% stock solution of brilliant yellow acid dye (dharma acid dyes)
squeeze out most water from presoak and then add the yarn in
wait 30 min
[8:47] The yarn mop
[10:08] Untwisting the yarn
[11:17] Knotting the yarn
[13:08] Dyeing Knotted Resist
Add 8 cups of water + 2 T white vinegar to increase the water level
The very end of the dye stock - 1% stock deep magenta ~30 mL (2 T of the color) + whatever I rinsed out of the bottle
After 13 min, remove the yarn (because all the color has absorbed) and let the yarn cool off a little bit
[17:00] Unknotting the yarn
[18:05] Adding zip ties
[21:14] Zip Tie Resist
Dharma acid dyes Caribbean Blue 3 T (45 mL) of the 1% dye stock
heat for 30 min
[24:06] The final yarn mop
heat for 30 minutes
[25:19] removing the zip ties
[27:21] washing the yarn
[28:42] the finished dry yarn and conclusions
