Compressibility, not just a Fixed Wing problem. Both airplanes and helicopters need an airfoil to get the Bernoulli to work. So! both are effected by subsonic and supersonic airspeeds over the airfoil.
The conditions that will increase the severity of Compressibility in helicopter flight are;
High Airspeed
High Rotor RPM
High Gross Weight
High DA
High G maneuvers
Low Temp
Turbulent Air
Some things a pilot can control, and some conditions a pilot cannot control. The corrective action when Compressibility is encountered;
Lower Collective
Decrease Rotor RPM (obviously a book answer, some helicopters have an "incr/decr" switch, however most do not outside of rolling throttle, or PCL to idle). Not sure that would be advantageous in flight.
Decrease severity of the maneuver
Decrease Airspeed
Basically stop doing whatever you did to upset the helicopter!
