*Airspeeds below ETL generally require more power
*Rate of Climb is dependent on airspeed and power applied.
*Higher rates of descent require more power to arrest, especially below ETL.
*Higher rates of closure require a bigger deceleration and more power to stop.
*Excessive movement of the flight controls, perticulary the collective, will cause you to use more power.
*The timing of applying your power required is critical.
In all situations, but particularly on the approach, there is an interrelationship between wind velocity, ground speed, power applied, airspeed, approach angle, and rate of descent.
Always have a plan!
