With a screaming 4 litre flat-6 mated to the manual gearbox, and with only 991 built, the 911R was designed for the proper emotive driving experience, something it delivers in spades. I joined Porsche Ultimate to kick start the experience in the South of France, jumping into the special limited edition 911R at the foot of the Col de Braus before heading straight on up. Where the GT3 RS was built for out and out lap times, the 911R is a package that's appropriate for enjoying on the open roads and they don't get much better than this.
