Gua Sha, also known as “coining”, “skin scraping”, or “pressure stroking” is a widely used ancient therapeutic technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine and throughout east Asia. There is a BIG difference between how it is performed on the face vs the body. Facial gua sha is much gentler and should NOT bring up petechiae (sha) marks. Please excuse the typos on some of the segments of this video, which was downloaded from my Instagram Stories. BLOG POST: https://thecuriouscoconut.com/blog/ho...
This is just ONE example for how to perform facial gua sha; beware "influencers" who say that they know the SINGLE correct way to perform gua sha. That is like saying there is only one single correct way to dance or cook a chicken. Subscribe to my channel for more videos demonstrating different techniques and tools that can be used for facial gua sha.
And notice the end my before and after photos. I see significant reduction in inflammation, especially in my cheeks, fuller lips, more relaxed face, and fading of fine lines (particularly the "11s" between my eyebrows).
My acupuncturist told me to start doing facial gua sha to help with some vision and eye complaints. The cosmetic and anti-aging benefits are just a bonus for the positive health effects of this practice. It is also fantastic to aid lymphatic drainage out of the head.
I purchased my first tools from my doctor, and I also grabbed a set of 3 tools on Amazon that I like very much made of rose quartz: https://amzn.to/2WDqudn
