Описание: The world around us is constantly changing - and our lifestyles with it. As times change, and evolve, so too do our needs, our tastes, and our perceptions. Pioneer artist Karthik Vaidyanathan illustrates the importance of keeping up with change when it comes to art. Using the Channapatna style of woodwork as a reference, he unravels the journey of reviving a dying art form, placing an emphasis on relevance to our modern lives, rather than simple propagation of the traditional delivery of the art. This year’s speaker, Karthik Vaidyanathan, is an Engineer-MBA by qualification, who works in music, radio and telecom at international companies, where he still consults in design. His project, “Varnam Craft Collective” was born during a trip to Mysore enroute Channapatna. The colourful toys of Channapatna left him fascinated and a few visits later, the designs of the Varnam Collective were published. Today, Karthik is a pioneer in reinventing traditional toy craft.
