Fitzgerald powered past region rival Thomasville with a relentless ground game, rolling to first-half drives of 70, 77, and 71 yards to claim its first state championship since 1948. The Purple Hurricane avenged a regular season loss and ended a 73-year title drought behind Denorris Goodwin’s 175 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Georgia commit E.J. Lightsey added another score in the 21-7 win.
