Founders, doctors and people in power often feel like frauds hiding in plain sight... "I an imposter!". Getting over imposter syndrome is critical to success.
Whether it is:
Landing big contracts
Selling with early product prototypes
Hiring, evaluating, retaining (and firing 😿) talented people
Here's my TL DR perspective
Imposter syndrome comes from a perceived mismatch in expectation between you and your observer (customer, potential employee etc.).
1. Your observer has v. little expectation, overcome your fear and fake it til you make it.
2. Respect the earnt experience and wisdom of your observer. Liberate yourself by telling them what you want and setting expectations. Establish a shared mental model.
3. When hiring set clear objectives for people and recognise that as a founder you quickly become uniquely experienced at interviewing and evaluating people just by the volume of work you do as a pseudo-recruiter.
