The kittens Chip and Violet are about to celebrate their first Christmas with their family and April is so excited for them. When Chip wakes up she sees a tree in the corner and what looks like a box of cat toys, actually Christmas decorations. Violet spies a mouse on the tree and pounces, only to be told it is a tree decoration, only then she realises it is wearing a red and green jacket. The kittens discover the joy of Christmas from cards, to stockings, decorating a gingerbread house and opening gifts. I wonder what the best part of Christmas for them.
This has to be one of the sweetest and most heartwarming of Christmas stories and all through the eyes of two adorable kittens. As you read you feel the pure joy that the little girl April has for Chip and Violet and her excitement for them to be emerged in the festivities. It is a story that took me back to my childhood with my furbies, the tenderness and innocence of Christmas as a child. I do love how the author has characterised the difference in the kittens personalities, which is so true. This story will bring giggles, happiness and warmth and all with the most gorgeous illustrations.
