Determining the hardness of a material can be done by using a durometer tester. In this video, we demonstrate how to use this device with different types of plastics that were manufactured with various methods like, injection molding, overmolding, casting, and even compression molding.
The durometer utilizes an indenter loaded by a calibrated spring in which the final measurement is determined by the penetration depth of the indenter under the load.
