Hoover Factory Cambuslang BBC Back To The Floor Series 5 Episode 8 2002

Описание: This Episode of the BBC programme Back To The Floor was first shown on 19th April 2002 on BBC2.
Narrated by actor Neil Pearson and featuring Peter Murtagh who was Vice President of Hoover Floorcare working at the Cambuslang factory near Glasgow Scotland.

On July 22 2005 49 years after it first opened, the Hoover plant closed its doors for the last time and production was moved to China. The buildings were demolished in 2008 and in its place stands a housing estate with road names including Hoover Drive, Booth Walk, Bissell Crescent, Kirby Gardens and Spangler Crescent.

I hope that everyone featured in this programme quickly found alternative employment when the factory closed. The end of an era for British made Hoover cleaners. Hoover UK is now owned by Haier, a Chinese company that markets Chinese manufactured vacuum cleaners.

I uploaded this a few years ago but had to take it down due to various copyright claims regarding the music used through the programme. I have uploaded it again with four claims against the video, not from the BBC but from the owners of the music, so I have not monetised the video. I thought it would be very interesting to viewers of my channel and although I don’t own the content, I am happy to share it for the historical interest it provides.
