The Sheriff exotic shotgun is a well-balanced weapon, perfectly suitable for use as a primary weapon, a rarity for weapons in this class. However, despite its advantages, it has significant drawbacks, namely an excessively long reload time and reduced close-quarters combat dynamics due to the need to stop and aim. Furthermore, there are more powerful and ergonomic exotic weapons that would perform much better in close- and medium-range builds. All in all, this shotgun is primarily suited for fun builds rather than those focused solely on efficiency.
The video featured my old Hunter's Fury build with an Exotic holster, which allows you to skip reloading, which is extremely useful when using shotguns. Ideally, I'd use the all-red version, but that will make it more difficult to clear open world and missions with large open spaces. The shotgun's increased accuracy, unlike its classmates, allows for the full 15-meter damage boost radius of the set to be utilized, allowing for more convenient targeting of weak spots and the ability to fully focus on headshot damage at close range. As for the ability to engage at range, it's more of a minor addition, as when firing at distant targets especially those in cover, there will be an element of randomness associated with the buckshot spread meaning only a small percentage of the rounds will hit their target.
It's worth mentioning some important micromechanics associated with this build:
1. In its normal state, quick swapping with a pistol allows you to combine both talents on your primary weapon, eliminating the need to reload and applying the damage and rate of fire buffs along with an extended magazine. However, this talent is often bugged, causing both effects to be tied to only the first part of the talent. Therefore, to refill the magazine, you must quickly swap twice. In this case, it's crucial to notice when this bug occurs to avoid running out of ammo in a critical situation.
2. Using a raised shield significantly slows down the weapon swap speed, which can seriously reduce the effectiveness of combat with an active shield. It is recommended to use the shield in this build only for defensive purposes or with a large current ammo supply.
3. There's a bug in the game where the reload animation will play in its entirety with an empty magazine, even if the magazine has already been fully refilled with the holster. Avoid completely emptying the magazine and swap weapons early.
4. It's important to know how to properly time enemy stuns and weapon swaps. Ideally, you should kill several enemies with the first talent active, then quickly swap to restore ammo and kill one enemy to re-stun the crowd, after which you should swap back to the damage and rate of fire talent and continue the fight.
This build is suitable for most heroic activities and offers a unique experience of fast-paced and aggressive close-quarters play. When playing in a group, this character will act as a close-quarters assault unit, pushing the front lines, quickly killing enemies, and stunning opponents within a large radius. Under ideal conditions, with a top damage dealer in the group, this build will rank second in damage output, slightly behind, but will also fall short of stronger, similar builds. Other builds can be used with this shotgun, such as the Striker, where it will demonstrate even higher damage output. However, with this build, it will limit the Striker's maximum potential, as playing with automatic weapons is more beneficial, and with Hunter's Fury, this shotgun simply pairs too well with it.
