Idicha Kozhi Varuval Recipe:
To Cook the Chicken:
Chicken (Leg and Thigh) - 2 nos (400 grams)
Salt - ¼ tsp
Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp
Coconut Oil - 1 tsp
Water - 1 ½ Cup
To Saute:
Coconut Oil - 1 tbsp
Onion (thinly sliced) - 1 no
Green Chilli - 2 nos
Curry Leaves - 10 nos
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Black Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
Salt - To Taste
Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp
Water - 2 tbsp
Cooking Instructions:
1. In a pressure cooker, add 1 tsp of oil, add the chicken and saute for 30 seconds. Add ¼ tsp of salt and turmeric powder. Add 1 ½ cups of water and pressure cook the chicken for 4 Whistles.
2. Once the pressure settles down, remove the chicken from the pressure cooker and shred it using your hands. Keep the shredded chicken pieces with bone aside.
3. In another pan, heat 1 tbsp Coconut oil, add the onions and saute until they are translucent.
4. Add the finely chopped green chillies and ginger-garlic paste and saute until the raw smell leaves.
5. Add chilli powder, garam masala powder, salt and saute until the spices are cooked.
6. Add the shredded chicken pieces and toss. Add 2 tbsp of water or chicken stock water (water in which chicken was cooking).
7. Add the curry leaves and black pepper powder.
8. Mix well and remove from heat.
9. Serve hot as an appetizer.
