Sometimes I EX units who need help, or maybe just because I like shitty units. I don't know how my channel got to this point but... I regret nothing.

Anni Steven's nuke is... mediocre. I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. His BP and Atk are middling at best. Steven's one advantage is his ease of conditional. His sync nuke happens when weather is absent. Excluding some very specific stages, Steven's nuke is guaranteed in 99% of content.

For this showcase I wanted to maximize Steven's nuke. In order for Steven to clean wipe the sides I had to play full offensive options. If I were to pick any bulk options Steven barely whiffs his KOs.

Steven's nuke would be a lot better in an extended match. Like when pairing him with Skyla with the expectation of tanking first sync. Steven can focus center while his AoE chips sides. Comparatively speaking, an off-type pre-sync clear is a lot more challenging due to Steven's low damage ceiling.

Now, Steven is very self-sufficient so you can afford a lot of partners. Rosanta is OK for Type Skills and fast Atk buffs, but if I had a choice I would bring Hop so he can contribute some DPS with Behemoth Bash. The point of this video was letting Steven handle the stage entirely by himself so... I had to play for some RNG and hope Rosanta doesn't go down before completing the set-up.

Most crucially, Steven's offensive role compression allows you to bring a Leer bot. The recent Flying Egg Event gave us two Leer eggmons who activate Flying Type Skills. This is perfect because it's exactly what Steven wants: as a physical Striker he can always benefit from AoE Defense drops, and Tech Fearow is also giving him a +54 Atk bonus. It helps his output a lot. As a matter of fact, I would bring Tech Fearow/Farfetch'd as a sync nuke Steven partner always. Leer REALLY helps his output.

Ultimately, my goal in not telling you Steven is a top tier unit. He HAS issues and I'm not delusional enough to tier him alongside Emmet, Red or whomever... but he is absolutely viable and has his perks. I'm very disappointed in people calling him mediocre when there are much worse units.

Is he a disappointing Master Fair unit? I don't know, because we only have a grand total of 5 Master sync pairs to compare him against. DeNA is most likely reformulating what being a Master Fair means.
