合唱團的魅力，除了不同聲部一起製造的和弦，更多的是關於團員之間的羈絆。缺了好友的和唱，雖有竹蜻蜓帶你聽見世間萬物美妙的聲音，也始終不及當初的歌聲動聽。縱使竹蜻蜓是出於虛構故事，但願這首《竹蜻蜓》，能成為你和你的合唱夥伴之間美麗的回憶。

Parting ways is a universal experience that everyone will face and must learn to embrace and internalise.

This composition is a gift from the lyricist and me to two of our closest friends. How should I navigate my emotions while bidding farewell to friends I have known for nearly twenty years? This piece reminisces about some of our most cherished moments. Although expressing these sentiments through the composition might seem trivial, it also leaves an indelible mark on our genuine friendship and connection. To those who can now sing this piece together with their friends, please treasure this moment and the hard-earned relationship between you and your fellow choristers.

This piece is written for all of you who enjoy singing in a choir.

The charm of a choir lies not only in the harmonies created by different voices, but also in the bonds between its members. The Hopter may lead you to the wonderful sounds of the world, but without your friends, these sounds are incomparable to the harmonious passages created by you and your team. While the Hopter is indeed fictional, I hope my piece can become a part of your wonderful choral journey with your friends.

In the sleepless night, I toss and turn,
my eyes closed, waiting for dawn.
I sing to my shadow, with no response.
I sit alone in silence.

I wish to find rapport,
a world in song in harmony.
Yet tonight, in this empty room,
I sing alone.

I wish for a hopter in search of utopia,
where doves coo and sloths respond.
If I encounter winter cicadas
or hear insects chirping,
I wish to listen with my soul
and remember them all.

I wish for a hopter to enjoy the world’s laughter,
to recognize these voices in my soul.
I long for melodies,
of voices ringing across sky and sea
chanting softly.

In the night, my heart seeks rapport,
remembering the dawns we once shared,
singing and playing together.
But now I only reminisce alone.

I recall the day we sang in harmony,
telling fun-filled stories.
After parting, only a murmur remains,
a reluctant farewell.
Come, listen to my call.

I wish for a hopter in search of utopia,
where wind chimes sing for you at night.
In the future, should a wild bull rage
or a sheep bleat in joy,
I only wish to travel the world
and to remember it all.

I wish for a hopter to record the world’s calls,
to identify those voices in my dreary soul.
But no matter how melodious,
it never becomes a song,
I deeply regret
that there’s no song to sing.

Even if the hopter lets me hear these calls,
without your return, where is the joy?
Even if I find a few close friends
to sing with me again,
the (treble) bass part will still be missing.

If only I have a hopter to share your laughter,
but it’s only fiction.
In the future, please remember, if you can,
that night we vowed at the airport
to sing that song once more.
