The strings of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra wail out Richard Addinsell's tune especially composed for Southern Television, "Southern Rhapsody" with Brian Nissen briefly interjecting over the ITA's region-specific variant of the Picasso tuning signal before finally fading to nostalgic views of different scenes and landmarks of the South and South-East of England.
Enjoy and watch my favourite ITV startup sequence with my favourite ITV startup tune.
The Picasso was recreated as closely as possible as I can get, and the whole thing was quickly put together in one evening on Windows Movie Maker (apart from the fading you really wouldn't be able to tell!)
