Rhode Island Prosecutor Thinks She's Above The Law - Arrested On Bodycam

Описание: On August 14, 2025, Rhode Island Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Hogan Flanagan, 34, was arrested outside the Clarke Cooke House in Newport after refusing to leave the restaurant when asked. The incident, captured on police body cameras, resulted in a misdemeanor summons for willful trespass.

Newport police were called after staff reported an “unwanted party” at the restaurant. Officers encountered Flanagan and her companion, Veronica Hannan, and requested that they leave. Instead, Flanagan insisted officers deactivate their body cameras, falsely claiming that it was required protocol when a citizen asked. Under Rhode Island policy, however, body cameras may only be turned off at an officer’s discretion, and only for victims or witnesses—not suspects.

During the encounter, Flanagan repeatedly identified herself as an assistant attorney general. As she was taken into custody, she warned officers, “You’re gonna regret this.” Bodycam footage shows her being placed into a patrol vehicle while making the remarks.

Following the arrest, Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha condemned Flanagan’s actions as “inexcusable” and confirmed that an internal review is underway. He added that she intends to apologize to the Newport Police Department and could face a suspension without pay depending on the outcome.
