Some Mahabharata Stories Imply Karma "IS" Eye-for-Eye. Can You Explain?

Описание: This video debunks the "Gandhari & Insect Eggs" story associated with the Mahabharata, which implies that the Law of Karma is an eye-for-an-eye type of barbaric and petty justice. This story, although not part of the original Sanskrit Mahabharata written by Sage Vyasa, exists outside it as a pervasive folklore. Despite being deeply incorrect in its claims about the workings of karmic law; this tale nevertheless has survived to the extent that it has even been inserted into a recently published popular retelling of the Mahabharata (Jaya by Devdutt Pattanaik), reading which a particular Spiritual Bee viewer got confused about the workings of karmic law.

This insertion in Pattanaik’s book has come at the heavy cost of removing Lord Krishna’s original answer to Queen Gandhari on why she lost her 100 sons and has resulted in the Mahabharata becoming inconsistent with its most important subsection – the Gita.

As we shall see in this video, the Gandhari and insect eggs story contradicts all of Lord Krishna’s profound teachings on karma in the Gita. And by doing so this story, invalidates the entire Gita, and from there it overthrows the whole of Vedanta and Hinduism itself!

So the lesson here for us is that we must exercise great caution when reading retellings/translations of our ancient spiritual texts. The authenticity, accuracy and integrity of the original text must have been diligently preserved by the re-teller/translator.
