MASSIVE Waves on North Shore Oahu

One of the largest swells ever recorded in Hawaii struck Oahu's North Shore on January 22, 2014. The massive swell, with some waves greater than 55ft, reached the coastline in the morning hours and peaked in the afternoon.
I arrived before sunrise and began filming at first light. The footage is a composition of clips from (in order) Sharks Cove, Log Cabins, Off the Wall, Waimea Bay, Alligator Rock, Sharks Cove (again) and Pipeline. Unfortunately, a strong onshore wind made the water choppy, making conditions too dangerous for even the most experienced surfers.
The surf completely closed out (broke all the way across) Waimea Bay's second break, something which has only occurred a few times before. The largest waves I filmed are around 2:00, 3:00, 4:05 and 4:55.
