Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of Congo contain some of Africa's most active volcanoes. Life in the shadow of the volcanoes has multiple implications for health and wellbeing - not only the immediate, apparent risks such as lava flows, but also long-lasting hazards such as carbon dioxide emissions.
Mabel Nechia Wantim, of the University of Buea in Cameroon, tells us how her research is bringing together different stakeholders to improve monitoring and reduce risks for the local population.
