RV-8 Engine Transformation: Dry Ice Blasting & Cerakote Finish | Episode 169

Описание: In this episode of the Van’s RV-8 experimental aircraft build, I take my Lycoming IO-360 aircraft engine through a full transformation using dry ice blasting followed by Cerakote C-Series coatings.

The engine first went to James at Dry Ice Restoration Technology (DIRT) for professional dry ice blasting, which safely removes years of grime without damaging the metal or forcing blasting media into sensitive areas. Dry ice blasting is a non-abrasive cleaning process that uses pellets of solid CO₂ accelerated in compressed air to remove contaminants without leaving residue.

Once the engine was spotless, I masked everything off and applied Cerakote Glacier Titanium to the cylinders, crankcase, and accessory case. For contrast, I used Cerakote Piston Coat on the rocker covers, pushrod tubes, and intake tubes.

The result completely transformed the engine and it’s now ready for the next stage of the RV-8 build.
