My good friend, Nicole joined me in Salvador da Bahia during Carnival weekend. Salvador is the capital of Bahia and a city that is known for its strong African influence. The musical city is famous for the Axe, an Afro-Brazilian music beat that is used during Carnival celebrations. You can also find the Carnival celebration in Salvador in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the biggest street party...on the planet!

The Carnaval experience that we had in Salvador this year wasn't quite how festivities have been in the past but we still found ways to celebrate, while experiencing the Bahian culture and learning more about our African heritage.
