Solo Summer Backpacking in California // Part 1: Mount San Jacinto and Idyllwild

Описание: Come along with me on my first backpacking trip of the Summer 2024 season!
I start my solo adventure with a night in Idyllwild followed by an overnight backpacking trip up and around Mount San Jacinto.

After driving up to Idyllwild from San Diego I stopped in town to pick up my overnight backpacking permit, and check out the brewery. Then I camped at the Marion Mountain Campground before starting my overnight trip to the peak.
I hiked about 13 miles the next day, first hiking straight to San Jacinto Peak before hiking around to connect with the PCT before hitting Strawberry Junction Camp where I would spend the night.
I ended up getting some altitude sickness and was feeling unwell but my dis-ease turned into adrenaline when I saw a Mountain Lion walk right past my camp as the sun was setting.
I slept through the night and had a leisurely morning before hiking the remaining miles back to my car.

In Part 2 of my solo adventure I head to the Eastern Sierras to hike the Big Pine Lakes trail, so stay tuned for the next one!
