Cyclist road tax rant and other nonsense: GV53GXH

Описание: The public highway is for use by all - you are very wrong to suggest that cyclists are some sort of second class road user by virtue of not paying VED. Churchill got rid of "road tax", or the road fund licence back in the 1930s just to stop motorists from trying to claim they owned the public highway. The roads are funded through general taxation, so everyone who pays tax pays towards the roads, whilst motoring related taxes such as VED and fuel duty only pay for a fraction of the true cost of motoring. There's a nice set of slides for the driver and passenger at the end regarding the many vehicles on the road which don't pay VED.

Oh, and driver/passenger, I'm not taking the lane to annoy you, I'm taking the lane because that is best cycling practice in these specific situations. That's what cyclists are trained to do via National Standards, to maximise my safety at the speeds I was riding at there. It's not my fault you chose to sit behind me for ages by Waitrose Bromley, you could easily have changed lanes and passed me, but of course I'd still have left you behind anyway.

The funny thing is that your overtake wasn't even too bad, just slightly too close. I'd not normally have uploaded that, since I figured the "Move Over" was enough education. If you'd kept quiet and not run the ignorant and nasty road tax rant, you'd never have appeared on YouTube and your registration wouldn't be indexed in Google.
